Ingredients
1
6 oz
can tomato paste
½
cup
water
¼
cup
apple cider vinegar
3
tablespoons
granulated sugar
1 ½
teaspoons
salt
½
teaspoon
onion powder
½
teaspoon
garlic powder
¼
teaspoon
ground allspice
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and whisk until smooth and well combined.
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until flavors have melded and the mixture has thickened slightly.
Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Notes
The ketchup will continue to thicken as it cools. If it seems thin right off the heat, let it cool completely before assessing the texture.
White vinegar can be substituted for apple cider vinegar. The flavor will be slightly sharper.
Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
