Salmon Seasoning

Homemade Salmon Seasoning can be mixed up in just 5 minutes. Use this dry salmon rub straight away, or mix up a bigger batch and store some for later, when you want to add an extra punch of flavor to fish.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp course black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground mustard powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, coarse black pepper, onion powder, paprika, ground mustard powder, and ground cumin.
  • Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed. Once blended, the seasoning is ready to be applied generously onto salmon.

Notes

  • You can cook the salmon immediately or allow it to marinate for about 20 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  • The seasoning can be stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Shake well before each use.
  • I suggest using 2 tablespoons of this seasoning mix per pound of salmon. If you prefer a lighter seasoning, start with 1 tablespoon and adjust according to taste.
  • I use coarse black pepper in this seasoning mix but feel free to use ground black pepper. I find the presentation is better with the coarse seasoning.
