What is Cajun seasoning?

This spice mix originates from Louisiana. Everyone has their own favorite combinations, but it generally consists of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, pepper and oregano. You can buy it in stores ready made, but it's so much more flavorful when you make your own. You likely already have these spices in your pantry too.

Is it spicy?

Cajun seasoning is spicy as it contains cayenne, so it does have a kick to it. It's easy to adjust the ingredients to suit your tastes though, if you prefer it milder, you can half the amount of cayenne, and if you have a very low tolerance you can omit it, you'll still be left with a delicious spice blend.

How do you use it?

Use this seasoning as you would any other. Use it as a rub for pork, chicken, seafood, and steak, or stir it into pasta, stews, beans, or even salads for a burst of flavor. It's wonderful when sprinkled over Air Fryer French Fries instead of salt and pepper!
