FAQs
Seafood salad combines a variety of seafood. Then add some crunchy salad vegetables, and seasoning (I use Old Bay seasoning along with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper), and coat in a salad dressing. I like a mayonnaise-based dressing, but you can make a vinaigrette-style dressing if you prefer.
Imitation crab, made from processed seafood paste, provides a mild, sweet flavor and a firm, chewy texture, and is often used as a substitute in various dishes. Real crab, sourced from different crab species, offers an authentic and flavorful experience with its delicate, rich taste and soft, flaky texture, making it a popular choice for seafood lovers. The choice between the two depends on personal preference and culinary needs.

William Young says
great recipe, will try , do have a question about canned crabmeat.
Have plenty of canned crabmeat and canned shrimp on hand. would this work for this recipe as well ?
Tanya says
Hi William, it should work fine. For the crab meat, imitation crab is a little sweeter in flavor, so the sub would be different in that way.If you have lump crab meat, even better! I'd just make sure to drain the canned crabmeat and shrimp really well before adding them.
Beth says
Looks delicious! What brand French Dressing do you recommend?
Tanya says
Thanks Beth! To be honest, I usually grab whichever is cheapest at my grocery store lol. I'm not brand loyal. However, I've used the Kraft brand often and I like it a lot.
