If you are looking to get some extra vegetables on to your dinner plate, then this air fryer broccoli is one tasty way to do it! Simple and quick to prep and cook, this healthy broccoli side dish is a great go to for any meal.

Seasoned with spices, roasting the broccoli is so much quicker compared to the oven, and it comes out perfectly tender and flavorful, with beautiful crispy edges.

Perfect to serve up as part of an easy family weeknight dinner, but tasty enough to serve to company!

How to make air fryer broccoli

  • Gather your ingredients and prep the broccoli. For this recipe, I use fresh broccoli, olive oil, and seasonings that include kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger powder, and black pepper. The spice combo is amazing!
Ingredients to make the recipe.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large bowl, add broccoli florets, olive oil, kosher salt, onion powder, garlic powder, ginger powder, and black pepper. Toss to combine and ensure the broccoli florets are covered with the oil and seasonings.

  • Once the air fryer is preheated, lay the florets in the air fryer in a single layer. Cook the florets on 350F for 6-8 minutes, stopping and stirring the florets halfway through cooking. Remove, serve hot, and enjoy.

Can you use frozen broccoli?

This recipe is for fresh broccoli, but you can easily use frozen with great results too. Don’t thaw the broccoli. Just preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and add the frozen broccoli florets once preheated. Set the timer for about 8-10 minutes and spray the broccoli with oil and season the broccoli halfway through cooking.

Can you oven roast broccoli instead?

I love roasting broccoli in the air fryer as it is so much quicker, plus it doesn’t heat up the kitchen! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can roast it in the oven at 400F for around 20 minutes instead. In the air fryer, it’s ready in half the time and the results are pretty much identical.

Other ways to season this air fryer broccoli

I love the spice combo included in this air fryer broccoli, but feel free to change it up with some of the following suggestions:

What do you serve it with?

This broccoli side dish is great to serve as part of an everyday weeknight meal, but definitely wouldn’t be out of place on a holiday table either. It’s a great way to add lots of vitamins and minerals to your plate with very little effort! Try it with these family favorite dinners:

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • Cut the broccoli florets into similar sizes so that they cook through evenly, and shake the basket halfway through cooking.
  • Make sure that the broccoli is well coated in the oil and seasonings. The oil will help to crisp it up and cook evenly.
  • Try mixing up the seasonings depending on what you are serving it with. Try some chili flakes for a bit of a kick, or some Italian seasoning to serve alongside a pasta dish.
  • I use a temperarture of 350 Fahrenheit as I found a higher temperature for broccoli in the air fryer usually crisped too fast.

do you place broccoli on screen in air fryer or on solid rack?

Tanya

Hi Helene, I place it in the air fryer basket. If your air fryer does not have a basket, you can place it on whichever shelf you air fry most of the foods on.
